About the position:

Currently, we are seeking a Business Development (BD) Specialist of Security to join our Corporate BD & Marketing team. The BD Specialist will plan and carry out sales and BD activities for Houle on assigned accounts/areas and be responsible for building trusting relationships with our customers.

The BD Specialist will report directly to the BD Manager and work closely with Division Managers and Project Manager / Estimators across Houle. The position is based from Burnaby, BC.


  • Work with Division Managers and Project Manager/Estimators to promote Security, Access Control, Audio Visual and Healthcare products, along with the promotion of all other Divisions of Houle
  • Develop unprecedented relationships within your key accounts
  • Be the key interface between our customers
  • Play an integral role in new business pitches
  • Maintain and build on the existing customer base
  • Mediate customer issues and concerns in a professional manner, gather information from the customers and bring it back within Houle so that we can develop a solution to help our customers and continue to maintain a good relationships with our customers
  • Work plan approach and pitches. Work with the teams within to develop proposals that speak to client needs, concerns and objectives, continual follow up and check-ins with the client to ensure we are bringing in the most up to date info on a project
  • Attend industry related functions, such as Association events, tradeshows and conferences, provide feedback and information on market and creative trends
  • Promote Houle throughout the engineering firms, architectural firms, building owners, etc.
  • Communicate with suppliers to maintain strong partnerships and for additional leads


  • 5+ years of related work experience required
  • Previous experience in the Security industry an asset
  • Proven ability to sell and close
  • Exceptional people skills and a proven team player
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of sales
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Knowledge of basic business principles
  • Experience in making presentations
  • Ability to influence others
  • Superior verbal and written communication
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for work use required
