About the position:

Currently, we are seeking an experienced, energetic and driven Commercial, Industrial and Institutional Project Manager / Estimator to join our Construction division in Burnaby. The Commercial, Industrial and Institutional Project Manager / Estimator performs a wide range of duties. He/she is responsible for the original estimate to win the job. Once the job has been won he/she is responsible for project planning, staffing, implementing, billing, controlling and evaluating each project.


  • An Electrical trade certificate, Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical Technologist diploma/certificate
  • 7+ years' experience in ELECTRICAL Project Management and Estimating
  • Proven estimating and project management experience with large Commercial, Industrial and Institutional projects
  • Intermediate level experience with estimating programs, specifically Accubid (Accubid Pro and Change Order)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good computer skills including MS Office
  • Currently working in the Lower Mainland area with an established local network (preferred)


  • Identify potential business opportunities
  • Maintain good relationship with suppliers
  • Review contracts for onerous clauses and conditions
  • Manage project financial performance
  • Estimate project costs, and submit tenders
  • Estimate changes
  • Purchase materials and equipment
  • Work with the foreman and superintendent as a team to review the project documents and discuss labour requirements and staffing
  • Develop project schedules
  • Manage the project and be present on project sites on a regular basis
  • Complete the required paperwork to ensure that the job is billed out and Houle is paid
  • Review reports labour status reports, job status reports etc to ensure accuracy and make adjustments where necessary
  • Arrange for project manuals to be completed
  • Ensure that all deficiencies are dealt with
  • Ensure that as-built drawings are completed and sent to the owner
  • Review the project at completion with the foreman and superintendent to discuss successes and challenges
