About the position:

Currently, we are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join our Accounting team based from Burnaby, BC. This position reports to the Payroll Supervisor.

The successful candidate will be part of a team that is responsible for the administration of the company's Union and Hourly payrolls and for the timely and accurate delivery of payroll and related client service, including record keeping and reporting.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process the bi-weekly payroll for union and hourly
  • Reviewing Union contracts for payroll effects and implementation
  • Time sheet collection, entry, and data verification
  • Reporting and remitting regulatory payments, i.e. CRA, WCB, Union
  • Reconcile year-end payroll records and prepare T4's
  • Prepare termination payments and prepare Records of Employment
  • Preparation of payroll journals and accruals

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • 4+ years minimum of solid payroll experience with exposure to a variety of tasks
  • Knowledge of payroll and accounting practices and principles
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP), or working towards, an asset
  • Understanding of CRA regulations
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel may be tested
  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast paced and high volume environment
  • Proven superior teamwork skills complemented by the ability to work well independently
  • Experience in a Union Environment an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently
  • Highly organized, detail orientated with the ability to problem solve
